19th c. Chesnut Spice/Nut Compote

A 19th c. spice/nut compote in original its original finish.

Constructed from a lathe turned piece of American chesnut wood with wide graining characteristics. A large basin sits atop a tapered shaft with a medial disc turning and rests on a largely step turned footed base. A largely out of round rim suggests quality age and lends testament to the quality of chosen wood.

Surface elements present extremely well within the finish. Exceptional condition.

Northeast origin. Ca. 1820. 6"T.
