A superb 19th c. figured maple muddler in original unfinished surface.
Constructed from a block of lathe turned tiger maple wood with an urn shaped knob. Simple double incised lines decorate the body. 
Used historically in mixed drink making to mash and mix drink ingredients. 
Displays beautifully with rich color and attractive wood graining. Superlative original condition. New England. Ca. 1820. 7 1/2"T.
