19th c. Hanging Shelf

A 19th c. hanging shelf in original paints.

Constructed of eastern white pine wood with small iron round nail joining. The body is stylized in the Eastlake movement, showing a pleasing scalloped backboard. Each scallop is accentuated with incised line carving and highlighted in red paint.

A curvilinear bracked underneath is also highlighted in red paint and carved with a single incised beadline.

Remainsnin excellent original condition, including the hangers. Exhibits superb surface elements both to the varnished finish and paint.

New England. Ca. 1890. 14 1/4"W x 7"T x 6 1/4"D.
