19th c. Cask

19th c. Cask

An exceptional 19th c. cask in original robins egg blue paint with a very light shellac finish.

Constructed entirely of oak wood (likely white oak) staving with oak wood heads finished with centric circles and finished with a relief carved bung plate. Hand wrought iron hoops with punch chiseled ends reinforce the body and are jointed with iron rivets.

Survives in an excellent state of original condition with historic surface qualities. Small amounts of tartrate crystals remain in the interior. Displays beautifully. A choice piece of early treenware. American. 6 1/4"T.
