19th c. Shelf

A quaint 19th c. hanging corner shelf with a heavily scalloped and tapered profile.

Constructed of pine wood with iron machine cut round nail joining. Three graduated shelves sit atop applied ledgers. Each backboard is pierced with a teardrop and inverted heart shaped cutout.

A fantastic pigmented varnish is applied over a dark stain showing a heavily crazed surface with craquelure.

Excellent condition with trivial wear from in-period use. VA origin. Ca. 1890. 25"T x 9"D.
