A superb 19th c. diminutive sized multi tiered hanging shelf in original black paint.
Constructed entirely of clear pine wood. The form is extremely successful, boasting a scalloped shaped backboard and pierced with a heart, two diamonds, and two stars. Three graduated shelves are formed with scalloped fronts and jointed to the body via a series of proportionally oversized square headed nails.
Visually impressive within its small scale. Retains extremely complex and desirable characteristics within its paint surface,  crazing and craquelure being happily evident. 
Superlative original condition with extemely old fissures to the back along grain lines being consistent with age.
Northeast origin. Ca. 1840. 12 3/8"T x 10 1/4"W x 4 1/4"D.
