Early Double Sided Gameboard
An early double-sided gameboard in various original paints.
The body is constructed from a single plank of pine wood with pine wood moldings profiled with Roman Ovolo molding work. A series of nicely made iron nails join the moldings to the body.
The front is decorated with a rich salmon colored paint with a black playing ground. The reverse features a layout for Parcheesi with scribe work and pigmented plahing field. Various cut marks suggest an early use as a cutting board with Parcheesi being added to the back later in its working life.
Paint surface remains untouched showing quality historical values from handling. The face has been well respected, showing minimal wear.
Excellent original condition. Maine origin. Ca. 1830. 14 1/4" x 14 1/4" x 1 1/4"T.
