Early Salt (SOLD)
A 19th c. treen salt dish in original Oyster white paint.
Constructed of lathe turned maple wood. Its body shares pronounced turning elements, especially in its footed base with an unusually high foot. An ogee shaped rim tapers in thickness and flares out at its edge, producing a softly shaped edge.
Remains in excellent as-descended condition with superlative paint qualities, rich in texture and exhibits strong historic qualities.
Northeast origin, likely New England. Ca. 1870. 2 7/8"W.
