Federal Dometop Box

Federal Dometop Box

A 19th C. dometop storage box in original bittersweet colored paint with soft paint decoration.

Constructed of pine wood with dovetailed corners and early iron nailed lid. Small iron wire hinges attach the lid to its body. A bold iron hasp and lock remain vibrant on the exterior and retain orignal black paint which remains in its entirety. Subtle paint decoration with long horizontal swabs is shown on the body while waves of semicircles inside of a thin border encompasses the lid.

Remains in a superlative state of original condition with a thick painted surface with crazing and craquelure. New Hampshire origin. Ca. 1830. 12 1/2"W.
