Late 19th c. New England Utility Basket
A 19th C. utility basket in original oxidized surface.
Constructed from ash wood with a circular base and lightly splayed upright. A single looped rim with a visible scarf joint is reinforced with double coiling. Applied handles are interwoven into the body using single lashings and reinforced with a continuous loop lashing.
Survives in a superlative state of condition with attractive color. Extremely pleasing in appearance; delicate and shallow.
