Late 19th c. Pipe Holder
A late 19th c. hanging pipe holder in a pigmented finish over original red paint.
Constructed of pine wood boasting two large circular cutouts surmounted by angular brackets. A large demilune shaped shelf hangs medial and is pierced with 7 holes for hanging pipes. Two squared match holders adorn the backboard and are attached with small iron nails.
Likely saw use in a smoking room or public gathering. Presents boldly with a pleasing and eccentric profile.
Survives in an overall excellent state of condition with fine surface characteristics showing crazing and historic elements.
