Miniature Pantry Box (SOLD)
A superb 19th c. miniature pantry box in original apple green paint.
Constructed of black ash wood with a pine wood disc lid and base which are attached via a series of wooden pins. The lid and base feature tapered fingers secured at their ends with a large hand forged nail.
The lid contains script written in pencil of "Cream Tarter" in early script matching the residue of the interior.
A more recent addressed note on the i terior reads "Out of house belonging to Rear Admiral Worrell Reed Carter East Main Street Yarmouth, ME". Worrell Carter is listed as a distinguished Naval commander during WWII.
Retains a fabulous painted surface protected with the origin thin varnish protecting the paint. Survives in a superlative state of undisturbed condition.
