Early New England painted box featuring original paint decoration of red quadrants with yellow, bittersweet and green pin striping. Each side is profusely decorated with a basket of flowers in multiple colors. The top features a red ground with pin striping in multiple colors and oval shape with yellow and green pin striping. Original brass hinges and escutcheon plate. Early brad construction. The paint surface remains dry with craquelure and is undisturbed. Striking in appearance with vibrant colors. VT origin ca. 1830. An outstanding example of early New England paint decoration. 12 1/2"W x 6 1/4"D x 5 1/4"T.
