19th C. Trick Box
A wonderful little box exhibiting clever engineering. A small tin cover on the backside when flipped down on a swivel reveals a small wooden button and when pressed releases the lid upon a mechanism. Surviving in a mint state of condition. Likely saw very little use. Painted surface remains very dry and free from any defects whatsoever. Early nail construction. Northeast, likely New England, possibly PA. Ca. 1820.
