An early slide lid box with a tombstone cutout. Constructed of pine with early iron nail joining. Retains a paint decorated surface imitating a flame and wavy wood grain. A very eccentric and moving piece. Excellent original as-descended surface and condition. New England origin. Ca. 1835. 15 1/2"W x 8"T x 8"D.
