Early map case in original light blue paint. Nicely constructed from pine wood with small iron hinges and early nailed moulding. Retains a very vibrant and rich surface showing light wear without disturbance. Evidence of a water colored map lightly bled through onto the interior lends credence to original use. An unusual and scarcely encountered item given form, color, and surface qualities. Northeast origin, likely New England. Ca. 1800. 22 1/2"T x 15 1/2" W x 2"D.
