A 13"T diminutive sizedĀ 19th C. weather vane in the form of a tall rooster. Copper bodied with cast zinc legs. Retains its original sizing and thinning traces of original or early 20th C. gilt with areas of copper showing through. The surface is very complex with craquelure and verdigris with varying levels of elemental wear throughout. Excellent condition throughout with no bullet holes or dents. As-descended surface. Attributed to LW Cushings & Sons of Waltham, MA. An 1883 LW Cushings & Sons catalog lists a 13" T rooster. Northeast origin. Ca. 1890.
