19th c. Diminutive Gameboard (SOLD)

19th c. Diminutive Gameboard (SOLD)

A 19th c. dininutive size gameboard in original oxidized blue and mustard paint.

Constructed from a single plank of pine wood with chamfered edges on its underside. The front contains a laid out playing field simulating Parcheesi in freehand decoration consisting of blue paint (now oxidized to a dark navy blue) and bright yellow. The original varnish remians protecting the front surface.

Displays beautifully. The array of circular starting fields and sizeable travel path against a diminutive board size enlivens its appearance.

Remais in overall good condition presenting a perfect balance of historic use and preservation. Light wear is apparent on its edges and underside. The varnish finish is ideal with cracklure and crazing.

Northeast origin, likely New England. Ca. 1900. 10 3/4" x 9 3/4".
