19th c. Match Holder

A 19th c. wooden match holder in original varnished finish.

Constructed of maple wood and turned on a lathe producing its chalice shaped body with a very robust foot with step turnings. A nicely swelled well with a flat bottom hollowed interior sits above a shaped stem.

Retains a fabulously aged varnish finish, evident by its visually rich cracked surface. Superlative original condition.

A true gem for the treen collector appreciating a best in varnish finishes.

American. Ca. 1880. 3"T
