19th c. Portrait of a Young Girl
A 19th C. painting of a distinguished, unknown sitter.
Oil on eastern white pine board medium and remains mounted in its original gilt frame with a Victorian black overcoat applied sometime around 1880.
The young lady is portrayed seated in a paint decorated Windsor side chair situated along side a Sheraton one drawer stand. Books and an early glass inkwell with two quilt accompany the stand. A stately soft blue background with drapes of red velvet curtain and tassles complete the foreground.
Remains in excellent as-descended condition with no restoration to the painting or frame. A well executed portrait with a stark, yet fine appearance with attractive architecture.
Vermont origin. Ca. 1825. 10"T x 7 3/4"W.
