19th c Sewing Caddy
A 19th c. sewing caddy in original brown stained varnish finish.
Constructed of eastern white pine wood in its entirety wifh small iron nail joining. The backboard features a rectangular profile with a shaped upswing and pierced hanging hole. Two pillars of habs carved and hollow wood are applied via nail joining from the face as well as a small trapezoidal pocket for storage of scissors.
A small whittled thimble holder adorns the front shelf and is applied via a small iron nail.
Retains a phenomenal finish with crazing and craquelure; elements of historic use near a fireplace or heat source. The reverse contains "from a friend April 21" on the reverse.
Excellent as-descended condition with appropriate wear being consistent with age and use. Northeast origin. Ca. 1890. 9 3/4"T x 5 1/8"W.
