19th c. Accessory Shelf
A 19th c. accessory shelf with featuring a scrollwork base with pierced designs. Particular attention is drawn to the top half with a humorous cutout featuring two gentlemen in top hats seated at a table with drinks and thumbing their noses.
Constructed of a three piece cherrywood design and joined with small iron square cut nails. Retains a beautifully aged varnished finish with crazing and craquelure. Survives in an excellent state of condition with one old loss to a flared tip on the base. Northeast origin. Ca. 1885. 8 1/2"T x 6 1/2"W x 3 1/4"D.
