19th c. Slate Board
A 19th c. writing slate in original blue paint.
Constructed of walnut wood with a molded interior edge on all posts. A thick piece of hand cut shale rock is fitted inside four joined posts and secured with a mortise and tenon joint.
One corner has been repaired early in its working life with a tin patch applied and secured with a series of small iron brads.
Retains a beautiful painted surface on the anterior side with excellent color and historic characteristics.
