19th c. Watch Hutch

19th c. Watch Hutch

A 19th c. watch hutch in original finished surface.

Constructed entirely from black walnut wood with a dovetailed casing. A single body of walnut wood is applied to the back via a series of small iron brads. The interior features a large cavity with two drawn iron hangers atop for hanging a watch. Below the cavity sits a thinly profiled drawer with dovetailed joints and an apllied walnut bottom joined with small iron brads.

Remains in an overall excellent state of original condition and retains original glass.

Fine color and surface qualities. Unusual in format with the addition of a drawer, likely for storage of a watch chain.

Northeast origin, likely Pennsylvania. Ca. 1830-1860. 9"W x 10 1/2"T x 4"D.
