Diminutive 19th c. Shelf
A diminutive 19th c. hanging shelf in original pigmented black varnish finish.
Constructed of pine wood in its entirety. The body portrays an octagonal shaoed body with heavily chamfered edges serving decorative purposes. Two small demilune shaped shelves adorn the front and are attached with small irregularly cut iron nails and feature plainly visible kerf marks and nicely chamfered front edges.
The backboard shows a history of decoupage block printed paper applied for adornment sometime in the second half of the 19th c.
Excellent as-descended condition with a very attractive surface with visible historic elements. A scarce, and charming diminutive size. From a distinguished private southern collection.
