Diminutive Mortar & Pestle
A diminutive sized wooden mortar and pestle in original unfinished surface.
Constructed from lathe turned maple wood throughout. The mortar elicits robust form in cylindrical elements including a swelled astragal tuening above a flared foot. Its matching pestle conpliments with a gently swelled handle grip terminating with a knob which displays attractive lathe turning marks and centric ring incising.
Superb original condition and presents beautifully with a deeply oxidized color. A charming and scarcely found size.
New England. Ca. 1840. 7"T OAH.
