Early Diminutive Cheese Mold
A 19th c. diminutive size cheese mold in original surface.
Constructed of quality black ash wood with copper tack reinforcement on its lap joint. Applied reinforcement bands on its top and base are well built with copper tack joining on the lap joint and iron tack reinforcement circumventing its perimeter.
The original pine wood press accompanies and features an applied pine wood bar attached with corresponding iron tacks. Press marks are evident from use.
Constructed extremely well with proper reinforcing due to its small size. Retains a quality mellow surface. Excellent as-descended condition given its origial use and survives structurally sound.
New England origin. Ca. 1840. 5"W.
