Early Miniature Bucket

Early Miniature Bucket

An early miniature staved and banded wooden bucket in original pumpkin colored paint.

Constructed of pine wood. Individual staves are of thick nature and tapered exactly as a full size working bucket would be. Two wooden bands of ash wood are applied, one with an interlocking joint at its base and the opposing featuring a lap joint secured with small hand-made iron tacks.

An applied handle is pinned with small mushroom headed pins and secured with tiny wooden pins preventing the handle from coming loose. Appropriate witness marks from use are shown.

Retains quality surfsce elements with historical signs of use present, yet well cared for. Overall excellent condition with a small loss on the lower band dating to its time of manufacture.

Likely made and served as a small berry bucket. A charming size at merely 6"T. New England origin. Ca. 1820.
