Paint Decorated Cutlery Tray
An elaborately paint decorated cutlery tray in polychrome colors.
The body is constructed of usual fashion, consisting of a rectangular canted body with a medial carrying handle and made entirely of pine wood, joined with a series of iron machined nails.
A black ground lays foundation for a series of elaborstely painted "tole" decoration consisting of leaves, pomegranates, tendrils, and patterned swabs. The Victorian era saw a resurgence of earlier Colonial craft with carefully crafted examples of an earlier time, sparked by the centennial celebration of our country.
Survives in a superlative state of original condition, seeing extremely light use and retains a quality surface with vibrancy intact.
