Painted Flower Basket
An Adirondack period flower basket in original teal colored paint.
Constructed almost entirely of split and prepared rattan, a popularized imported vine utilized by furniture makers of the Victorian period.
Rods of vertically cut rattan are stacked around a square framework and are applied via small iron nail joing. A tall handle wrapped with double coiled wrapping is attached to the body with iron nail joining.
Retains a fabulous painted surface with oxidation and signs of light use. Excellent as-descended condition with a fine aged appearance. Very well crafted.
