Sheraton Miniature Chest of Drawers

Sheraton Miniature Chest of Drawers

A Sheraton period chest of drawers in original red paint.

The casing consists of clear pine and exhibits a wonderful profile with layered scrollwork above multiple cyma recta cutouts. A double arched backboard adorns the top backboard and is pierced with a hanging hole.

Four drawers made of pine wood and joijed with early iron square nail joing complete the body. Each drawer is fronted with figured birdeye maple drawer fronts and retains its original porcelain knob and tin collar.

A desirable varnished surface is present protecting its original red paint and is textured with anomalies, crazing and historic properties. Survives in excellent condition with extremely light in-period wear.

An eccentric and functional example celebrating classic design elements with vivid color.

New England origin. Ca. 1860. 17 1/2"T x 12 1/16"W x 7 1/2"D.
